 HOMEWORK

Homework should supplement and reinforce what has been taught in the classroom. Some pupils may need added practice in basic skills. For other pupils homework is a means of enriching school activities started in the classroom. Unless prior arrangements have been made with the teacher, homework is due on the assigned date. If your child is absent, call the Homework Hotline afer 4 PM. A child shall generally get a day to complete homework for each day he/she misses school. Teachers in Grades K - 2 have developed a homework policy, which will be shared with you and your child at the beginning of the school year.

 JUNIOR HIGH HOMEWORK POLICY

The Jr. High teachers, with approval from the administrators and School Board, implemented a homework policy in December of 2001 for all students in Grades 6, 7 and 8. The components of this policy are outlined below:

  1. All homework will be turned in on the due date specified by the teacher.
  2. Assignments turned in one day late will receive a grade no higher than 70% of the actual grade.
  3. Assignments that are completed and turned in two days after they are due will receive a grade no higher than 60% of their actual grade.
  4. Assignments that are three days late will receive a grade that is not higher than 50%.
  5. Any assignment that is later than three days past due will receive a grade of zero.
  6. At the beginning of each grading period, students will be given two "forgiveness passes" for each subject. These may be used to excuse a student from an assignment in an emergency. Any unused passes may be turned in and used as extra credit at the end of the grading period. Teachers reserve the right to not allow the use of "forgiveness passes" for major projects and/or assignments.
